Marking thirty years of presence of Maria Papacharalambous in the local as well as the international art scene, the Lefteris Oikonomou Cultural Foundation presented the project ‘woanders’, under the general supervision of Evagoras Vanezis.
Inspired by Papacharalambous’s exhibition history, the title “woanders”, as an English pun, combines wonder(question) and wonder(admire) with wandering. ‘woanders’ in German means “elsewhere” but also “where else?”, when expressed as a question.
Papacharalambous’s diverse work includes paintings, installations, videos and short films, sets and costumes, restored ruins and social sculpture. For the needs of the project, which has a retrospective – archival character, and in collaboration with Dr. Theopisti Stylianou Lambert and Panagiotis Kyriakou (CYENS – Center of Excellence), a virtual tour was created: “Maria Papacharalambous: with the eyes of the painter “. It’s twenty minutes tour of the artist’s space and at the same time a presentation of her work, which creates a living and and alternative archive that extends beyond the natural space of the museum.
The exhibition took place in the “Garage”, from the 20th of October until the 27th November 20.
